Superb place to stay in Croatia

Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom

Review Submitted: September 27, 2017

We spent 2 weeks enjoying Josip's hospitality at Villa Julio, the location is superb with a short walk to a variety of restaurants and bars and the water taxi's into Trogir as well as Split and KRKA National Park being a short drive away.
Also a must visit is Rogoznica just 20 mins away by car. We stayed in the stone house , a 2 bedroomed place (with everything you need) in the grounds, large enough for 2 adults and 2 teenagers and only 20 paces from the pool, Tennis Court and BBQ. Josip and his family very helpful with all our requests.
We highly recommend Villa Julio and intend to go back again in the near future (and this from a family that doesn't normally go back to where we've been previously)

LOVED VILLA JULIO!

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a week holiday at villa julio and I couldn't recommend it enough. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves as I think September is considered out of season. The apartment itself is definitely better than the photos and the Balcony and view is absolutely amazing. One of the things we miss the most! The second bedroom links to the lounge so if you are 4 people it would make the lounge a bit on the small side but still adequate. The pool is gorgeous and tennis court is great. Josip lent us rackets and we played most days, the court is in a great condition. The whole grounds of the block of apartments are so well looked after, beautiful olive trees, mandarin, pomegranate trees, turtles and all looking over the sea. Really stunning setting. Yes there definitely is a bit of a hill climb back up to the apartment from the seafront but it's not that bad and we need the exercise so wasn't an issue for us.

Josip was great and really helpful, he organised us transfers (which were quite expensive given the journey time but very convenient!) which was a great help.
Location wise, we loved it. The apartment is literally 5 mins downhill to the sea front and I actually loved the beach closest to the apartment. The water was crystal clear, absolutely gorgeous. The beaches are shingle but it's quite fine so isn't painful to walk on particularly and means that the water is just so beautiful. It's just a short walk to lots of bars and restaurants however these were very quiet in September so we usually got a boat to trogir in the evening or walked to Seget old town (about a 20min walk in the other direction) which both had more going on. Trogir is much more touristy with loads of restaurants and yachts! The old town in Seget is a sleepy fishing village which is really lovely and has a few restaurants which get quite busy, Antonio's was our favourite, it's tucked away in the lanes and has the most amazing food. We met a couple in their who had eaten there 5 nights in a row!
We did a boat trip to split and also the 3 islands boat trip, both from Seget, outside hotel medena, just 10 min walk away. Highly recommend the boat trips, the islands were AMAZI NG and definitely the highlight of my holiday!

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. We had a perfect week and fully relaxed which was exactly what we needed! It was very quiet in the evening but I think that's because it's September, a bit further afield there was more going on so it wasn't a problem.

Thanks Josip for a fantastic week, we will definitely come back.

Urlaub in persönlicher Atmosphäre

Having had Croatia in general, and this particular area of the Dalmatian coast recommended to us by a Croatian colleague, we were searching for a Villa that would be suitable for a couple and a 7 month old baby. We plumped for Villa Julio primarily for the pool and the obvious location overlooking the bay.
The Villa itself is what I would call "functional", it was very clean and had everything you might expect. Decent cooking facilities, nice bathroom (with power shower), comfy beds and satellite TV. The main star of the show however was the lovely (big) balcony offering a great view of the bay, Trogir and on most days even into Split. The grounds of the apartment were absolutely lovely - plenty of olive, pomegranate, plum, orange and lime trees were growing alongside rosemary and lavender surrounding the pool, immaculate clay tennis court, BBQ area and outside gym. To be honest the outdoor facilities were more akin to something you might find in a 4 or 5 star hotel. The photographs don’t do the place justice in our opinion.
The Villa was about 400m from the seafront and promenade housing a number of restaurants and bars. Once on the promenade, a right turn takes you towards the slightly grim Hotel Medena which has seen better days and the bars and restaurants that occupy that strip weren't really our cup of tea (although it did handily have a half decent supermarket). A left turn takes you towards Seget Donij and Trogir, both of which are easily strollable (about 1 and 2km respectively) with some nice hotels and better maintained promenade - with a couple of really nice and reasonably priced restaurants en route (Zule and Frankies).
The weather was absolute fantastic during our stay. We were led to believe that the area had enjoyed 70 days continuous sun before our arrival on the penultimate day of August – but to our horror it was raining heavily when we arrived. We shouldn’t have worried though, as the weather had cleared up and we barely saw a cloud during our 11 day stay. Temperatures remaning around the 30 degree mark.
On our last evening, Josip and his father prepared us with a lovely BBQ whilst (unfortunately for them) we all watched England beat Croatia 5-1. Even in defeat our hosts were gracious.
One final word on Josip and his family who made us all feel very welcome. Josip’s English is excellent and he is a big Hadjuk Split fan – so I had many interesting conversations on football, sport and politics with him ...
